aka DimDim
Programming Manager
Dima is a Palestinian-Lebanese artist, writer, and researcher. Working across contemporary art, research, writing, and cultural programming, she is fascinated by language’s ability to reveal, conceal, wander, and misbehave, particularly as it moves between Arabic and English.
At Room-Five, Dima contributes to research, content development, and project design. She has a habit of reading between the lines, noticing patterns, and tracing ideas back to the assumptions hidden within them. She enjoys pulling apart the language we take for granted and following a phrase further than most people think necessary.
Despite recurring reports that she is “very quiet,” Dima maintains that she is simply processing your linguistic information and will respond within a few business days. She can often be spotted moving between desks, pacing through the alleys, standing outside mid-thought, or scribbling down a phrase she wants to remember later.
Her favourite form of research is collecting language: overheard remarks, notes in book margins, fleeting expressions, and words borrowed from conversations, most of which she has no intention of returning.
