Project Description:
On its 10th edition, Sikka welcomed its visitors with new additions to the festival introducing alongside visual arts two new pillars: Design and New media. These two disciplines have been activated in various houses around Al Fahidi providing visitors with experiences based on latest technologies such as Augmented and Virtual Reality as well as an NFT UAE artists showcase and the first biennale in the metaverse.
Other highlights this year, are the Khaleeji house hosting 5 artists from the GCC with work celebrating life after the pandemic, Back to Roots by the Emirates Jewelers as well as a variety of art installations, murals and participations from UAE based initiatives and government entities.
In addition to a full program of workshops, music and cinema that has been curated to give the opportunity to homegrown musicians, filmmakers, and artists to showcase their talent and to display their work in a very inspiring cultural space such as Al Fahidi district.
With this edition, the aim is to pave the way to an upgraded Sikka that is ready to welcome a new generation of artists and to provide them with an ecosystem that gives both emerging and established the tools they need to grow and to build a stronger creative scene here in Dubai.
